I’m 16 years old and music has been in my life forever! I think I inherited it from my dad and his dad who both sang in the Burlington Roadshow barbershop chorus. Please check out my website at www.hayleyverrallmusic.com.
I started attending church choir rehearsals when I was a week old and eventually joined the choir when I was about 10 years old. I was a regular solo performer at church (here is a link of my performance of O Holy Night performed at church at age 12:
I started playing piano when I was 5 years old and have received my Grade 4 Royal Conservatory piano certificate. I play trumpet and I taught myself to play guitar and a bit of banjo. I am working on my Grade 7 Royal Conservatory voice certificate. I am part of the vocal music high skills major program at Nelson High School in Burlington and plan on having a career in music, even though I don’t know yet what form that will take.
I have spent about the last 4 summers travelling to different bluegrass festivals so bluegrass and country have become favourite genres of music for me. I placed first in my age group at the Tottenham Bluegrass Festival talent competition in 2013 (my winning performance here:
and I also competed in the Rise 2 Fame competition at Western Fair in 2013 (performance here:
I have performed at open mic at River Valley Bluegrass Park (my favourite performance here:
In 2013 I formed a duet with Kelsey Erwin called Kickin’ Up Dust and we released our first cd in December, 2013, including an original that I wrote (see me performing it here:
Here are some of my performances with the Sunday Knights at Black Swan Pub & Grill:
